Grand Theft Auto V is an action-adventure video game developed by Rockstar North and published by Rockstar Games. It is the fifteenth installment in the Grand Theft Auto series, and the first main entry since Grand Theft Auto IV was released in 2008. Grand Theft Auto V is the latest edition to one of the most popular video game franchises. This game is set in the fictional state of San Andreas and is the first game in the series to take place in three separate cities: Los Santos, San Fierro and Las Venturas. The game offers new opportunities for players with three different playable characters: Michael, a retired bank robber in his early 40s, Trevor, a psychopathic, suicidal drug dealer and Franklin, a gangbanger in his late 20s. Players' actions are not pre-determined and they have the option of switching between the three characters. The game also features a new graphics engine that has allowed for a more detailed world with a variety of weather effects and realistic lighting.

Gameplay

Grand Theft Auto V is an action-adventure game played from either a first-person or third-person view. The game is set in fictional Los Santos, based on modern-day Los Angeles. The single-player story follows three protagonists: Michael, Trevor and Franklin, who are all criminals living in the city. The player switches between the three characters, who occasionally team up during the story, in order to complete missions. The protagonists are able to explore Los Santos and its surrounding areas, and the wider world, primarily by foot or by car. The gameplay in Grand Theft Auto V is a lot like in the previous games in the series, but with improvements. There are more side missions, more random encounters with other characters, more vehicles and an extensive use of the open world. The game also features a first-person mode, which was left out of the previous game. Another new feature is the ability to switch between the three protagonists, in which players can play one character for a while and then switch to another one.

Graphics

Grand Theft Auto V is the first game in the series to use the Rockstar Advanced Game Engine (RAGE) engine. The Euphoria-powered physics are a key part of the game's open world. The game's graphics engine has been updated and is a lot more detailed. The game offers a very realistic atmosphere, with different environments, weather and lighting.

Replayability

Rockstar Games estimates at least 100 hours of gameplay. The game is very replayable, with the option to complete side quests and to switch between the three characters. There is also an online multiplayer mode, which allows players to play against each other.
